Located on the banks of the River Meuse and the Canal de l'Est is the village of Mécrin, a haven of peace and tranquility where you can relax in beautiful surroundings. The village, and the gîte, are just a few miles from Commercy, St-Mihiel and Lake Madine, the ideal place for a rest or a sightseeing holiday.
The gîte makes extensive use of bright colours, taking guests right away from the daily grind. The ground floor comprises a well-equipped kitchen with decorative fireplace opening onto a lounge area with a TV and a selection of books. Upstairs are 4 bathrooms and 5 bedrooms, each with its own theme. The African room and Green room both have double beds, the Blue room has a single bed (with en-suite and toilet) and the Yellow room has twin beds (and, again, an en-suite and toilet). As soon as the sun comes out, you can take advantage of the 30 sq. metre patio in the enclosed garden.
From this gîte, you can explore the town of Commercy, its castle (home to King Stanislas of Poland) and the ceramics and ivory museum (musée de la céramique et de l’ivoire). While you're there, don't forget to taste the madeleine sponge cakes. Further away, there are some great walking trails in the Meuse Valley and lots of different activities at the leisure complex at Lake Madine (golf, sailing, swimming etc.)
