Viéville-sous-les-Côtes is a pretty little village in the Meuse Hills, in the heart of the Lorraine regional country park just 13 km from the leisure complex at Lake Madine, 22 km from Saint-Mihiel, 34 km from Verdun and 50 km from Metz.
Isabelle and Gilles Blondey welcome guests to their B&B, "La Bottée" (Gîtes de France - 3 ears of corn). It is an old workman's cottage adjacent to an 18th-century vigneron's house and both buildings have been fully renovated. They now contain three beautiful guest rooms:
- On the ground floor with a view of the garden and surrounding orchards: "Les Maies" has 2 single beds.
- Upstairs: "La Cendrée" and "La Nouelle" each have 1 queen-size bed.
Each room has its own en-suite.
Everything has been designed to ensure that you enjoy your stay. There is a living room with wood burner and a selection of books, a conservatory where you can have breakfast in the summer, and gardens.
In the morning, you'll love the colourful, copious breakfast with a selection of bread, local honey, yoghurts, jams, home-made cakes etc.
You can also have a convivial table d'hôte meal (with advance booking, November to March). Isabelle cooks wonderfully tasty food on her range. It's a real treat!
Cycles are available if you want to explore your surroundings. There are several routes taking you through some beautiful countryside.
Viéville-sous-les-Côtes is also the ideal starting point from which to tour many of Lorraine's most iconic locations. You must see the town of Verdun (citadel, World Centre for Peace, cruise on the Meuse etc.) and its battlefield (Douaumont Ossuary, Fort Vaux, Fort Douaumont, the destroyed villages, the Verdun Mémorial Museum, the Trench of Bayonets etc.).
If you like art and heritage, you can see a number of major works by the Renaissance sculptor Ligier Richier in Saint-Mihiel. Take advantage of all that the leisure complex at Lake Madine has to offer, for you and your children (aerial assault course, riding, golf, swimming, angling etc.). And don't miss the town of Metz (50 km) with its cathedral and Pompidou Centre.
