This memorial in the town centre was inaugurated in 1929 by French President, Gaston Doumergue. From it, there is a breathtaking view of the town.
The 73 steps lead up to a hall containing lists of names of the soldiers awarded the Verdun medal.
A ceremony takes place here every year on 1 November, when the Sacred Flame is brought from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The ceremony is linked to the commemorations of the Armistice and the selection of the Unknown Soldier.
