So much to offer the tourists. So many excuses for a party. The result of this is that the Meuse remains vibrant throughout the year with a thousand and one festive flames (fireworks, barbecues...). This calendar is punctuated with veritable events, all conducive to exchange, discovery, thrilling, and delighting the senses.

A living display of over 80 19th-century trades in an identical reconstruction of a village.

Flammes Lumieres


From May 5th to 9th 2013
Festi'Val of the colours of the circus in Vaucouleurs.

5 days of circus, with a programme of shows, entertainment, days for schoolchildren, parade, and the highlight of the show: a ringside show dinner with the public poll of the best acts.


From the end of June to the end of July
"Musique et Terrasses" (Music and Terraces) Festival in Verdun.

An outdoor festival providing several gigs for fans of pop-rock and French songs.


From May 26th to June 3rd 2013
Festival on the Route des Oiseaux in Lachaussée.

A rather magical barn theatre... Excellent programme from year to year. This must be seen to be believed!


Friday and Saturday evenings: From June 21nd to July 27th 2013
Des Flammes à la Lumière - from flames to the light - in Verdun.

One of France's best-known sound-and-light festivals. 600 volunteers from the "Connaissance de la Meuse" society re-enact one of humanity's most important conflicts: the battle of Verdun.

Festival RenaissanceS

From 5 to 7 July 2013
Festival RenaissanceS in Bar-Le-Duc.

The whole town is transformed and takes part in the proceedings. Decorated façades and shopkeepers in costume, Renaissance menus, conferences, concerts, floodlit shows, market, street entertainment, Renaissance tavern...


From 6 to 8 July 2013
Golden dolls.

World Folklore will be the order of the day in villages in the Etain region:  shows, entertainment...

The Vent des Forêts
outdoor exhibition at Lahaymeix and in the surrounding area. With its own special form and expression, this festival of contemporary art is an enigmatic attraction to the locality.


In July and August
Sundays in the Park in Bar-le-Duc.

The Dimanches du Parc are devoted to concerts given by a variety of groups (jazz, folk, country, accordion music, contemporary variety, classical...).
 

Last weekend of August
Festival des Granges in Laimont.
Pop, folk, jazz, blues, classical and world music concerts in the village barns and under cover of a marquee.


October 2013
Festi'cuivre in the Sud Meusien.

Music that is played here and there, fitting in with its audience.

Densités festival at Fresnes en Woëvre.

Densités provides a vast "global" artistic landscape punctuated with surprises, ranging from free jazz, to poetry or dance and electronic music.


Every two years (even years) in December
Festival of cribs at Muzeray, the village of nativity scenes.
Exhibition behind windows and in barns of hundreds of cribs from the world over. Variety of entertainment. The crib museum can also be visited throughout the rest of the year.


Saint Nicolas


Last week-end of November
Thillombois celebrates the feast of Saint-Nicolas.
Exhibition, conferences, Saint-Nicolas market, workshop and shows for children.


Around 6 December
The feast of Saint-Nicolas in the towns and villages in the Meuse.
The patron saint of children, he rewards good children with chocolates and spice breads, whilst Père Fouettard dishes out punishments to the disobedient ones. Numerous parades in the streets of the Meuse towns and villages bring in the crowds.
